~CL - Mateo (Lab Mix) Large - Male

I’m a 100-pound 1 yr old Lab/Shepherd mix and I just completed three weeks of training at ZenK9 in December!  I am neutered, current on shots, potty-trained and know sit, lay, stay, drop and gentle.   I love humans, kitties, playing ball and anything to do with water.  My favorite toys are horse jolly balls and Kong Frisbees.

After being abandoned in the desert, I was saved through the efforts of many and now living large in Northern Arizona.  My rescue family has spent a lot of time teaching me about living in a regular household, learning manners and having boundaries.  We play ball/fetch two or three times a day.  I’ve gone on long (4 mile) walks and would make a great running partner!  My rescue family believes I was chained up for most of my young life so it’s made my leash training a little challenging but I am learning.  I don’t mind my collar though; it’s blue and makes me look like Scooby Doo!

My forever home will have very physically active, patient humans who will engage, play, exercise and work with me daily. I don’t know my own strength so a home without seniors or young children I could accidentally hurt or knock over is best. I will respond well to calm assertive energy, consistency and praise as I continue to learn boundaries and manners and outgrow my puppy habits. I will come when I am called and must have plenty of room to run and play in a safe fenced/walled yard with female dogs only. I'm ready to meet and play ball, are you?

Our adoption fee of $150.00 helps cover expenses (vaccinations, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not ship our adoptables out of state and to ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard.
