Can I Become A Volunteer?

Volunteering with United Animal Friends not only helps animals, it can also be good for you! Studies show that volunteering provides many benefits to both mental and physical health, and those studies can’t even begin to measure the rewarding feeling that comes from saving lives and bringing together people and pets. Some people call volunteeing "volunteer work," but when you become a part of UAF, you’ll have volunteer fun!

Want to utterly transform the life of a cat or dog? Why not foster? Fostering is one of the most important and rewarding volunteering opportunities in our organization. Fosters get the opportunity to show an animal what it’s like to live in a loving home, possibly for the first time ever. As a foster, you get to know the animal better than anyone, which helps us to find them the perfect human match. UAF pays all veterinary expenses and can provide food and transportation while the pet is in your home.

Dog Adoption Event Handlers / Kitty Cat Play-Pals
Can’t foster but want to help a homeless animal find its forever home and get your fur fix to boot?
- Handle a dog at an adoption event! Dogs and volunteers are matched so that the two of you enjoy your time getting to know one another.
- Prefer cats? Kitty City is calling your name. This feline adoption center is located in Petco, and volunteers are needed to feed and play with the resident kitties. Seriously, who wouldn’t like to play with kitties?

Dog Walking
Want to get some exercise without having to join a gym? Why not walk a dog that’s in boarding! It’s more fun than doing sit-ups and way more rewarding to boot!

Pet Food Bank
Want to help low-income families feed their pets? Help out at our Community Pet Food Bank, which does just that. Help hand out food once a month at our Prescott or Prescott Valley distribution location and you’ll be amazed at what you get back. The pet food recipients’ gratitude will keep you feeling good for days.

Like to drive—and get reimbursed for mileage to boot? You can provide transportation for our animals, pet food, etc., all over town and beyond for various reasons.

Fundraising Activities
Like to make money—even if it's not for yourself? Get involved with our fundraising events! Organize and price donated items for the annual Rummage Sale and then sell, sell, sell! Transform dirty dogs into clean ones at a dog wash. It’s good clean fun! Turn your crafting hobby or baking skills into lifesaving dollars by creating items for the Stocking Stuffer event. Pitch in to help at Woof Down Lunch. Help with dog photo events where you’ll laugh yourself silly helping pose pets and people. Remember, UAF puts the fun in fundraising!

Telephone Volunteers
Like to talk on the phone and provide excellent customer service while volunteering from the comfort of your home? You select one or two days a week to retrieve messages from the phone line and either return the call or forward the information to the appropriate party.

Grant Writing
Like to write and have experience with grants?  Write grants for UAF!
