Opt To Adopt

One of the primary goals of United Animal Friends is to find the best home for each animal in our care.  We are a foster-based organization, which helps us learn each pet's personality to help ensure that they are placed in a home that will be the best fit for the animal and the adopter.

The first step in the process is the Matchmaking Questionnaire, which will helps determine which cat or dog might best fit your lifestyle and whether any current pets need to be considered.  Completion of the Matchmaking Questionnaire does not obligate you to adopt a pet; it simply helps us get to know you.

For dog adoptions, a home visit is required.  If you currently have a pet or pets, we will want to ensure that everyone gets along, so we will arrange for a "meet and greet" to introduce the pets to each another and identify any potential issues.

While the Matchmaking Questionnaire and home visit (for dogs) may add a little time to the adoption process, we feel that it is time well spent to ensure that the adoption is best for everyone involved.  Our goal is to make the rest of their life the best of their life, and the last thing we want is for a pet to be returned.  Please keep in mind that we are an all-volunteer organization and will work through the process as quickly as possible.
